Dr. Howard M. Shapiro is founder and director of  Howard M. Shapiro Medical Associates, a private multidisciplinary medical office in New York City, which specializes in weight control, nutrition counseling, and life management.

Dr. Shapiro gained international recognition in 1981 through his pioneering work in bariatric medicine.  He established a comprehensive weight control method which he has expanded to include psychological services.  His office treats hundreds of patients using nutrition management, psychology, dietary counseling and exercise to treat a number of stress-related disorders.  He practices preventive and general medicine as well.
